Over 25% of women and girls in Africa lack adequate menstrual products, leading to health risks and causing 1 in 10 to miss school. With 200,000 maternal and 1 million neonatal deaths annually, 35% of women facing Gender-Based Violence (GBV), over 20% of girls becoming pregnant before 18, and 144 million affected by Female Genital Mutilation (FGM), our initiatives are crucial. Inspire Action Africa partners with community organizations, governments and other partners to empower women and girls, including those with disabilities, by providing healthcare education, psychosocial support, advocacy, and menstrual products.
To reduce maternal and neonatal mortality, particularly among vulnerable groups, Inspire Action Africa offers comprehensive services, including access to health education on pre and postnatal care, safe deliveries, and nutrition. We collaborate with community health promoters, local governments and engage both men and women to address preventable causes of maternal and neonatal deaths, ensuring that services are inclusive and accessible to mothers and children including those with disabilities.
Menstrual Health Hygiene (MHH) is a critical issue in Africa, impacting women’s education, health, and economic well-being due to lack of quality and affordable menstrual products. This leads to absenteeism in schools, stigma, and health complications. Inspire Action Africa partners with communities to provide menstrual products, health education, and hygiene facilities. Addressing MHH empowers girls to remain in school, manage their health and reach their full potential.
Inspire Action Africa addresses GBV, Femicide, and FGM through gender equality promotion, inclusive community education, alternative rites of passage, and male engagement. We advocate for stronger legal frameworks and partner with governments to provide survivors with shelters, psychosocial support, medical care, and empowerment opportunities. Our efforts aim to eliminate violence and create safe, equitable communities for women and girls across Africa.
Teenage pregnancies pose serious health and social risks for young girls, including those with disabilities. Inspire Action Africa provides inclusive sexual education, supports teenage mothers with healthcare and mental health and wellness services, and partners with local organizations to ensure continued education and mentorship, accommodating the specific needs of girls including those with disabilities.
